Erick Lindgren has always been a very competitive individual. His achievements in the world of sports may serve as proof. He was a star athele in high school, having won the Most Valuable Player award in basketball while maintaining his position as the quarterback of his school football team. After a while though, the only arena housing his competitive spirit is the casino, where the tables of Vegas test his thirst for winning. Erick developed a love for poker that pushed him to drop out of college and start a career as a casino dealer before playing poker professionally. It’s a good thing that he made this decision, because poker gave him the ticket to being a millionaire. Erick had his first victorious tournament at the world famous Bellagio in 2002, and his first victorious major event from the World Poker Tour in Aruba. He was instantly $500,000 richer, just like that. Since luck comes in threes, his third victorious major tournament came not long after, in the form of Party Poker’s WPT Million III cruise. This gave him a million dollars in a matter of weeks and with barely any effort at all – talk about hitting the jackpot!

His winning streak did not stop there. In 2005, he was able to finish among the top players during the WSOP Circuit over at Atlantic City, and also the WPT Poker Classic. He scored another tournament victory during the Professional Poker Tour tournament in Los Angeles. In 2006, he got the third spot during the World Poker Tour Winter Poker Open at Borgata. He was also the champion of a poker tournament sponsored by one of the largest online poker websites during the same year. Erick has written a book about winning in poker and currently works as a FullTilt Poker Team member, playing with fellow world champions and working with them to create better poker players all over the world.

Erik Seidel is now a world famous poker player who has won a lot of prestigious awards and millions in cash prizes. It’s surprising to know that he started out with a passion for backgammon, his dream to be a professional player pushing him to drop out of college and join the Mayfair club of bridge and backgammon players in New York. He was doing pretty well in this track, even making it to Vegas for a backgammon tournament. This was where Erik was introduced to the game of poker. He grew into it instantly, joining several games that ran on low stakes and amateur players. Upon his return to New York, Erik played poker with his Mayfair buddies, among whom were current big names Howard Lederer and Dan Harrington.

The income that game with backgammon was erratic and uncertain. This prompted Erik to look for a more stable job that gave a steady income. In 1985, he decided to join the stock market and become a trader for the Wall Street. However, when the stock market collapsed two years later, his so called stable job disappeared into thin air. Erik went back to gambling on a largely professional level – this time playing poker instead of backgammon. He honed his poker skills by playing poker with the Mayfair members and analyzing the ins and outs of every game, from what went wrong to what techniques were used to play certain hands. He studied poker religiously and regularly, until he was competing in the World Series of Poker Tournament and other big events in Vegas. Despite several victories and acquiring 7 WSOP Bracelets, he still returned to New York for his Wall Street job when the stock market bounced back. Only when he moved to Vegas with his wife did he play poker full time.

Jennfer Harman has given “girl power” a whole new meaning. The world of poker is pre-dominantly male and a lot of women find themselves faced with double or even triple standards when trying to learn the ropes of the game. Jennifer is living proof that women can be just as good as men in the tables – perhaps even better! Jennifer is a consistent winner in cash games that present players with some of the highest stakes in the world. It’s safe to say that this woman has left her mark in the poker industry.

Growing up in Reno, young Jennifer was exposed to the game at an early age. She remembers watching her father hold home poker games whenever he held one. One fateful night when her father was doing terribly and losing piles of money, he asked her to fill in for him. Jennifer surprised her father by playing like a pro and doing extremely well. From that moment on, her father would always enlist her help in winning the game. This gave her the idea of playing professionally and started her career in professional poker when she turned 21.

She was a full time poker player with Limit Texas Hold’em being her choice posion. The more she earned from playing, the bigger the games she went for. Eventually, she found herself in the Bellagio playing against large poker names with thousands of dollars at stake. She was always a consistent winner though, and even landed herself a WSOP Bracelet in the year 2000 and another in the year 2002. Another poker great named Howard Ledener actually served as her mentor, and she took his lessons to heart. After taking a year off back in 2004, Jennifer was able to make a smooth return to the poker scene, being a better player than ever.

Though born in Indonesia, John Juanda is now a poker player who has received remarkable worldwide fame. He came to the US to study in Oklahoma when he was 19, and even received an MBA from Seattle U. Being a working student in a foreign land, John had to work some odd jobs in order to support himself, including being a Bible salesman. In interviews, John claims that he would perhaps be a doctor today if being a professional poker player didn’t work out.

John started playing poker when he was around 30, but it wasn’t until six years later when he was awarded his first victory during the World Poker Open Championship. This kicked off his lucrative career in gambling. 2002 was John’s big year. During this time, he won a WSOP bracelet, became a runner up for being the Tournament Player of the Year, and was even awarded the Tournament Champion of the Year. If these weren’t impressive enough, he also bagged not one or two but three “Best All Around Player” awards. John continued to play poker and hone his skills regularly. He takes home prestigious awards once in a while, including the Professional Poker Tour Champion in 2004 as well as the Five-Star World Poker Classic Champion and the National Heads-Up Poker Championship Winner in 2005. In 2006, he took home 1 million Australian Dollars during an Australian poker championship tour.

After winning worldwide recognition and gaining his reputation of being one of the best poker players in the industry, John works as a part of Full Tilt Poker’s team of master players. He only plays online nowadays, making millions over his Mac computer. He is proud to also be a poker teacher to hundreds of Full Tilt Poker students hoping to master the craft.

Chris Ferguson is one of the most entertaining characters in the lineup of poker players. He looks like Jesus, dresses like Clooney and is more talented than your average American Idol finalist. Just like other poker players, Chris started playing cards at a young age. In fourth grade, he lost his lunch money to a flush (he only had trip Queens) and it was this day that marks the most significant turning point in this poker player’s career: he swore to himself that he would never run out of money again. True to his word, he never went broke again, winning game after game in high school and throughout college. Christ spent a crazy 31 years of his life in UCLA – eighteen years of undergraduate studies and thirteen years of trying to obtain a graduate degree. Nobody knows why he stayed in school for so long, but it may have been all the poker tournamets that he held during his college years. Chris was a natural winner in poker games. It didn’t matter if he was playing over an IRC channel, in the big-time land casinos of Vegas, or with a small group of friends in a dorm room – Chris played to win, and win he did.

Currently a holder of five Worls Series of Poker bracelets – two in 2000, one in 2001 and two more in the year 2003, for a myriad of events ranging from Seven Card Stud to Omaha Hi-Lo tournaments. Chris claims that he rarely plays for money nowadays, but rather he plays to win – like a true poker player. He is now a teacher at the Full Tilt Poker Academy, helping hundreds of poker players learn the skill required to win in poker. Of course, he is also an active player who is feared by poker players around the world.
