Jennifer Harman
Jennfer Harman has given “girl power” a whole new meaning. The world of poker is pre-dominantly male and a lot of women find themselves faced with double or even triple standards when trying to learn the ropes of the game. Jennifer is living proof that
women can be just as good as men in the tables – perhaps even better! Jennifer is a consistent winner in cash games that present players with some of the highest stakes in the world. It’s safe to say that this woman has left her mark in the poker industry.
Growing up in Reno, young Jennifer was exposed to the game at an early age. She remembers watching her father hold home poker games whenever he held one. One fateful night when her father was doing terribly and losing piles of money, he asked her to fill in for him. Jennifer surprised her father by playing like a pro and doing extremely well. From that moment on, her father would always enlist her help in winning the game. This gave her the idea of playing professionally and started her career in professional poker when she turned 21.
She was a full time poker player with Limit Texas Hold’em being her choice posion. The more she earned from playing, the bigger the games she went for. Eventually, she found herself in the Bellagio playing against large poker names with thousands of dollars at stake. She was always a consistent winner though, and even landed herself a WSOP Bracelet in the year 2000 and another in the year 2002. Another poker great named Howard Ledener actually served as her mentor, and she took his lessons to heart. After taking a year off back in 2004, Jennifer was able to make a smooth return to the poker scene, being a better player than ever.
